The Derwent Executive Advisory Board was established in November 2011.
It comprises four senior executives all of whom bring a wealth of expertise and experience in their specialist fields.
The Board is an invaluable source of advice, ideas and support to the Derwent Executive senior management team.
As Managing Director, Ben leads the strategy and overall management of the Company. Ben has a hands-on focus, playing a key role in our client acquisition, relationship management and retention processes. He also focuses on our board selection practice and private equity relationships.
Ben guides the overall strategy for the company and is a key driver of our culture and philosophy. As a result of Ben's vision, stewardship, strategic business development and long term client relationship management skills we have achieved brand recognition and a reputation for consistent delivery.
David is Executive Chairman of VGI Partners, a global fund manager. David has spent over twenty years investing in businesses. David spent seventeen years in the private equity sector, as a Managing Director at CHAMP Private Equity (2002-2011); Executive Director and Country Head of UBS Capital (1999-2002) and a Division Director at Macquarie Direct Investment (1994-1999). He started his career at McKinsey & Company, and was General Manager of Butterfields Cheese Factories, part of the King Island Dairies Group. David studied Mechanical Engineering (University of Melbourne, First Class Honours) and an MBA (Harvard Business School). He is also Chair of the National Museum of Australia and Kudos Energy, and a Non-Executive Director of EMR Capital, Global Sources Limited, and EC English.
Murray is a corporate adviser and non-executive director of a number of innovative companies and institutions. Murray has 23 years experience in investment banking with a particular focus on acquisitions and financing, funds management, infrastructure, transport and property. He has been the CEO of an Australian listed company and CEO and USA Country Head (based in New York) for one of Australia’s leading Investment Banks. His current adviser and director roles cover a wide range of sectors and his responsibilities include Chairman as well as Committee member for Risk, Audit, Compensation and Investment Committees. Murray is a NED for start-up Internet companies Zanbato, Society One and Together Let's, for listed company Energy Action Limited, for unlisted Strongform group, for fund manager IFM Investors and Chairman of Suicide Prevention Australia. He is also a partner in Alfred Street Investment Partners.
Sue served as Strategy & Operations Director of Korn/Ferry Australia and Managing Director (Australia) at Futurestep a Korn/Ferry company. She was instrumental in helping Futurestep become a market leader in the country and was part of APAC leadership team. Prior to joining Futurestep, Sue worked in a variety of consulting and operational roles with a major Australian human resource consultancy. Her earlier career was in the health arena, in public and private sector Australia and the U.K. Sue holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Queensland, a post-graduate diploma from Cumberland College of Health Sciences, an Executive MBA from the Australian Graduate School of Management, University of NSW and is a Graduate of the AICD.
